An independent rescue specialising in black retriever crosses and other gundog breeds and mixes

Black Retriever X Rescue finds new homes for black retriever crosses, a smattering of other handsome mixes and the occasional purebred that comes our way. We specialise in the gundog breeds - flatcoat, golden retriever. labrador, setter and spaniel mixes.

Most of our dogs (although not all) come from Ireland where thousands of beautiful, healthy and often young dogs are destroyed every year. This is particularly true of black, long-haired dogs who are often overlooked - considered unattractive, even unlucky. We, of course, think they are absolutely beautiful.
