RUA.. is a beautiful purebed red setter boy. As is sometimes the case in working-bred reds, he has quite a lot of white on him, making him a very distinctive one-off. (Rua, by the way, means ‘red’ in Gaelic, hence why the name is so common in setters.)
Rua was found wandering on a beach on Country Meath way back in November, wearing a black leather collar with a bit of lead hanging from it. He was very, very thin and in extremely poor condition but thanks to the ministrations of Drogheda Animal Rescue he is in much better shape now, although still slim.
Rua is 3-5yrs old and a lovely, friendly boy - very affectionate with adults and children and a very well-behaved boy inside the house (and he is housetrained - hurrah!). He is excellent with other dogs, but doesn’t like cats (well, not in the warm and cuddly sense, anyway).
Unusually for a setter, his recall is pretty good on walks, although will need a bit of attention to really nail it. (The clincher with our other Rua, by the way, has been chicken jerky treats... irresistible!).
Rua, who will travel to us as soon as we can find a spare foster for him, is neutered, fully vax’d, wormed and flea-treated.
f you are interested in this fully-fab fella, please email info@blackretrieverx.co.uk asap.
There is an adoption fee of £150 + VAT (total £180) for Rua, which includes the cost of transporting him from Ireland.
UPDATE 9/6/11
We’re delighted to say that lovely Rua has found a new home in his native land...
