Fostering

Many of our dogs come over to the UK from Ireland and need to be assessed carefully before they can be rehomed. We would love to hear from you if you are an experienced dog owner and could foster a black retriever x while a new home is found for them. Fosters can be for anything between a couple of days to 2/3 months but, typically, are rarely more than 2 weeks.

We need:

• experienced dog owners who can assess a dog’s

  strengths and weaknesses

• a secure garden

• fosterers who are at home for most of the day

All potential fosterers will be home-checked.

We can supply all equipment, food and as much

support as you need!

If you would like to help, please email foster@blackretrieverx.co.uk, telling us a bit about yourself and what you feel you could offer as a fosterer.

HOMECHECKERS

We rehome all over the UK and are always in need of people willing to do homechecks for us.  If you could represent us in a particular area of the country, we would love to hear from you.

TRANSPORT

Our dogs often arrive from Ireland in the small hours of the morning, and we are always on the lookout for people who might be willing to give up their sleep to collect the dogs and transport safely to a foster home nearby (usually 20-50 miles).  We can cover fuel costs. Particularly useful for us are people who are close to the two main transport routes:

  1. Holyhead to London (M56/M6/M1)

  2. Pembroke to London (M4 corridor)
